Rams WR Puka Nacua Secures Rookie Record in Catches, Receiving Yards

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has etched his name into the record books in Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua now officially holds the record for most receptions and receiving yards by a rookie in NFL history.

The receptions record was previously held by Miami Dolphins' wideout Jaylen Waddle (104) in 2021, and the receiving yardage mark came in 1960 from Bill Groman (1,473).

Nacua secured the records in the early portions of the third quarter against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The Rams wideout elected not to rest in Week 18 in an attempt to secure this record despite the fact that Los Angeles has secured a playoff berth.

“I think you’d like to be able to see him get an opportunity to do something special and then be smart with him,” coach Sean McVay explained.

This is a feather in the cap of a massively-productive season for Nacua following his advent into the NFL. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has built that inconspicuous start into a Pro Bowl selection in his rookie campaign.
