Sean McVay, Rams Beef Up Staff With Two Offensive Hires

The Los Angeles Rams moved closer to completing their coaching staff on Monday, hiring Dave Ragone as quarterbacks coach and Nate Scheelhaase as pass game specialist.

Sean McVay's Los Angeles Rams took another step towards completing their coaching staff on Monday, or more accurately, two steps.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Rams are set to hire former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dave Ragone as quarterbacks coach and Iowa State Cyclones offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase as their pass game specialist.

Ragone, 44, has been around the NFL for a while in various coaching roles. He most-recently served as the Falcons' offensive coordinator under Arthur Smith for the past three years. The former backup quarterback also served as the quarterbacks coach for both the Chicago Bears (2016-19) and Tennessee Titans (2013).

On the other hand, Scheelhasse is making the jump to the NFL for the first time after nearly a decade coaching at the collegiate level. The 33-year-old has been at Iowa State since 2019, being promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach this season. He also coached at Illinois, his alma mater, before joining the Cyclones.

Ragone replaces Zac Robinson, who left to become the Falcons' offensive coordinator, while Scheelhasse replaces Jake Peetz, who recently became the Seattle Seahawks' pass game coordinator.
