Saints Place Two On IR, Add Two New Faces

Marcus Maye and Malcolm Roach are headed to injured reserve for the Saints.

The Saints made several transactions on Wednesday afternoon, which sees Marcus Maye and Malcolm Roach heading to injured reserve. Maye has been dealing with a shoulder injury and has appeared in just seven games this season. Meanwhile, Roach hurt his knee in Sunday's game against the Lions and was on crutches following the loss. Dennis Allen said that his injury could potentially require surgery.

Each will have to miss a minimum of four games, which would mean a return in the regular season finale against the Falcons could be the earliest they could come back. New Orleans signed P.J. Mustipher to replace Roach, who has spent his time on the Broncos practice squad this season. The team also claimed linebacker Monty Rice off waivers, who the Titans just waived on Tuesday.

Jordan Howden will undoubtedly get more looks at the safety spot with Maye on injured reserve, but Lonnie Johnson Jr. and Johnathan Abram could also see more time there alongside Tyrann Mathieu.
