Insiders Predict Steelers Trade Package for Justin Fields

The Pittsburgh Steelers are giving up two draft picks for Justin Fields.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing to be named a landing spot for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, but the biggest question when presenting the idea is what the team would need to give up in a trade to land the fourth-year passer.

ESPN's Field Yates and Courtney Cronin developed three trades Chicago could make for Fields, starting with the Steelers. In the projection, Pittsburgh gives up a 2024 second-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick in exchange for the Bears quarterback.

"When gathering reporting on potential trade offers for Fields two months ago, several sources around the NFL suggested something similar to this Pittsburgh package. The Bears could fill their pick void in the second round and add a third fourth-rounder," ESPN writes.

The Steelers have pledged their support of Kenny Pickett, with hopes of re-signing Mason Rudolph for competition. But if the right move presents itself, Pittsburgh could make the offer for Fields.

Other insiders say they wouldn't be shocked if the Steelers made a trade for Fields due to their liking of him coming out of Ohio State in 2021. Now entering his fourth season, a team could have two years with him before having to sign him to a long-term deal.

Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin is reportedly a big fan of Fields, and it's becoming increasingly likely the Bears move on from their former first-round pick. Until a decision is made on Rudolph, or another option, the Steelers will remain a team to watch in landing Fields.
