Steelers Make QB Change: Mason Rudolph to Start
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will make a change at quarterback in Week 16, giving veteran Mason Rudolph a chance to start against the Cincinnati Bengals.
With the playoffs on the line, the Steelers will turn to their third-string quarterback in Rudolph. With Kenny Pickett still sidelined due to an ankle injury, Pittsburgh was relying on Mitch Trubusky. But after benching him during Week 15 in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the team will stick with Rudolph.
Rudolph entered a game against the Colts for the first time since 2021. He's 5-4-1 as the starter for the Steelers. He's thrown 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during his time with Pittsburgh.
The Steelers will not rule out Pickett returning and being able to start against the Bengals. His initial return expectation was Week 17 against the Seahawks, but he is pushing to return and will get an opportunity to practice throughout the week.
