Steelers QB Mason Rudolph's Price Tag Increasing

The former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is expected to get a good deal in free agency.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for competition with Kenny Pickett, and they've made it known they would like that competition to be Mason Rudolph. But the growing belief seems to be that Rudolph is headed elsewhere and is going to get a decent paycheck with a new team.

Recently, NFL Network reported Rudolph is looking for a "fresh start" outside of Pittsburgh and is expected to sign with a new team in free agency. Now, Ian Rapoport is saying the expectation is that Rudolph is going to get a pretty nice deal wherever he lands - whoever that team is.

"I think we know they’re going to remake that QB room," Rapoport said on KOA in Denver. "I expect Kenny Pickett to be back, but that might be it. Mason Rudolph played well enough to make some money, but I just don’t know it’s gonna be in Pittsburgh."

Rudolph spent most of his time in Pittsburgh as a backup and, in the last two years, was not given much of an opportunity to showcase his skills. When he finally was made the starter while Pickett was dealing with an ankle injury and Mitch Trubisky struggled, he took the team to a 3-1 record and immediately sparked the conversation on whether or not he should be their starter in 2024.

If the Steelers do miss out on Rudolph, they could look elsewhere. So far, they've been linked to Ryan Tannehill and Desmond Ridder, and new reports claim they are expected to call the Chicago Bears to discuss Justin Fields.
