Steelers Offer Support After Chiefs Parade Shooting
PITTSBURGH -- The NFL experienced a tragedy after news broke a shooting took place during the Kanas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. And as players, coaches and fans try to start recovering from the horrific event, the Pittsburgh Steelers offered their support for those affected.
"Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, the Kansas City community and Chiefs Kingdom," the Steelers Tweeted from their main account.
The Chiefs' celebratory parade was cut short near Union Station, an Amtrak hub in the middle of Kansas City, Missouri, when shots rang out and sent crowds scattering.
One person has died, according to the New York Times, and 22 suffered gunshot wounds. 12 of those victims had been transported to University Health Hospital, eight of whom are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. 12 more people who attended the rally are at Children's Mercy Hospital receiving treatment, per the Times. 11 of those at Children's Mercy are children and nine are being treated for gunshot wounds.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted a message of support on Twitter as well, saying he was "Praying for Kansas City."
