Report: Giants Hiring Former Titans Defensive Coordinator Shane Bowen For Same Gig

According to reports, former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen will be joining the New York Giants. Bowen worked as the Titans' defensive coordinator for three seasons under former coach Mike Vrabel.

NASHVILLE — Former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen reportedly has a new job.

According to multiple reports, Bowen is set to become the New York Giants' new defensive coordinator. Bowen is replacing defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

Before becoming defensive coordinator, Bowen spent three seasons as outside linebackers coach for the Titans and two seasons as a defensive assistant for the Houston Texans.

New Titans coach Brian Callahan reportedly hired Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson to replace Bowen as defensive coordinator.

Bowen spent six seasons with the Titans, working as the outside linebackers coach in 2018 before taking over as defensive coordinator in 2021. Following the season's conclusion, the Titans let go of head coach Mike Vrabel.

Under Bowen's leadership, the Tennessee Titans allowed an average of 335.5 yards per game during this season, which tied them with Green Bay for 17th place in the NFL. They also allowed an average of 21.6 points per game, putting them in 16th place in the league.

Bowen's defense was ranked 13th against the run, allowing an average of 107.7 yards per game, and 18th against the pass, allowing an average of 227.4 yards per game. They also had the lowest interception percentage in the league.

Giants fans looking for positives can point to the Titans leading the league in the red zone (37.7 percent) and goal-to-goal (42.86 percent).

Bowen was one of eight known candidates for the Giants job, and he interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars for a similar job.
