Titans Still Have Work To Do To Fix Offensive Line

While the Titans lost one offensive lineman on Monday, they added another later in the day, with the announcement of their agreement with former Eagles first-round draft pick, Andre Dillard.

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans added a former first-round draft selection on Monday with the announcement of their agreement to sign for Philadelphia Eagles tackle Andre Dillard.

There are some questions about Dillard's durability: he missed all of the 2020 season with a torn bicep and five games last season with a fractured forearm. Some believe that the Titans intend to use him as a guard rather than a left tackle, the position he was initially drafted to fill.

While it is unknown exactly what position the team intends for to fill, Dillard becomes the first piece of the new offensive line.

Nicholas Petite-Frere and now Dillard must wait for the remainder of free agency and the upcoming draft to find out who will join them as starters for the coming season.

What does this mean now for the Titans?

There's more work to do as general manager Ran Carthon and head coach Mike Vrabel must continue to sort through the remaining free agent offensive linemen to see if they can find suitable fits; otherwise, those fits will have to come in the draft.

It's very possible that the Titans could use Dillard at guard and are still planning on using the draft to fill their left tackle position. It's equally possible that Dillard fills the left tackle position, and they go elsewhere in the draft.

Whatever the plan for the line, the job is not finished, and how well the front office fills these positions will have a large say in how the coming season goes for the Titans.
