Live Blog: Nashville Predators vs. Anaheim Ducks

How will the Nashville Predators finish off the 2025-2026 season?
After being eliminated from playoffs contention Monday night, the Predators are playing in what will be their final game of the season tonight against the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks clinched the playoffs with the Predators loss early in the week, but there are still some stakes.
The Predators may not be playing for anything that can benefit themselves, but they can still play spoiler to the Ducks’ playoff seeding. Right now, the Ducks are the third place team in the pacific division, but they could fall as far as the final wild card team with a Predators win and a Kings win tonight. In that case, the Predators would force the Ducks to face the top team in the league in the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Predators’ motivation coming into this game is playing for pride and playing to have some sort of momentum going into the offseason.
It has not been the finish to the season that Nashville, nor head coach Andrew Brunette envisioned. Tonight was certainly meant to be a night where the Predators would have loved to play for a playoff spot, but that is not the case. Rather, a 4-5-1 record in the last 10 games compared to a 7-1-2 record from the Kings dropped and eventually eliminated the Predators from contention.
One thing to note going into tonight’s game is that the Predators called up minor league prospect Cole O’Hara from the Milwaukee Admirals. In 65 games for the Admirals this season, O’Hara put up 44 points off 19 goals and 25 assists. O’Hara signed an entry-level contract with Nashville in April 2025.
Opening faceoff for the Predators and Ducks is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at Bridgestone Arena. Be sure to follow the live blog for live updates.

Third Period
- FINAL: The Predatos gave is a great effort to end the game and got so close to tying the game at the buzzer, but were unable to score. Predators lose 5-4 and finish the season 38-34-10.
- The Ducks are given a four-minute power play and take a 5-4 lead with 2:54 to go. Ducks are still on the power play for two more minutes. Predators have to figure something out either shorthanded or in the final seconds.
- Nashville kils off another power play and Saros makes another great safe to keep this game tied. The Ducks have outshot the Predators 34-19 and have kept plenty of pressure on Nashville, but Saros has made a few big stops.
- We are at the midway point of the third period and we are still tied at four apiece. Could we see overtime and/or a shootout in the final game of the season?
- Nashville was unable to score on the power play and Anaheim scored a few minutes later and we have a 4-4 tied game now. We have had so much offense tonight.
Second Period
- INTERMISSION: Nashville leads it 4-3 with 1:39 to go on its power play going into the final period.
- Predators draw a penalty with 21 seconds to go in the period. Another chance for Nashville to get a power play goal and possibly extend the lead.
- And take advantage is exactly just what Nashville did. Steven Stamkos gets his second of the game off a one timer shot that he had right in front of the net. The Predators take a 4-3 lead with 4:28 to go in the secon period.
- Right after the Prerdators tie the game, they draw a penalty and will now have a 5-on-4 advantage for two minutes. A big moment here for Nashville with an opportunity to retake a lead.
- Filip Forsberg just tied the game at 3-3 for his 40th goal of the season. Forsberg found his way in the middle of the ice and had a clear angle to get it past the left shoulder of Ville Husso. 5:07 remaining in the period.
- Anaheim going on another power play this period already just six minutes into the second period. Predators looking for another kill to keep the deficit at one goal.
- Nashville killed off the penalty, but Alex Killorn rips one from a good distance and scores. It is now 3-2 Ducks with 15 minutes to go in the second period. Sasros did not look like he even saw that shot from Killorn at all.
- Nashville goes a man down 32 seconds into the period with a penalty. Ducks on a two-minute power play to just moments into this period. The Ducks are 24th in the NHL in power play offense.
First Period
- Ouch, that's a rough way to end the first period. Anaheim sniped one from the blue line and went top shelf into the net. It is 2-2 as the first buzzer sounds.
- It is the final media timeout of the period and Nashville holds a 2-1 lead with 1:32 before the first intermission. Predators are outshooting the Ducks 9-8.
- There is no shortage of offensive attack today as the Predators take a 2-1 lead with a redirect from Filip Forsberg on a power play. Ryan Ufko and Steven Stamkos credited with assits. The Predators do their job taking advantage of what has been a struggling power play unit for the Ducks.
- Wow what a moment for Cole O'Hara as he fought through traffic, took the puck away and recorded an assist off a Steven Stamkos goal. What a play for the guy making his NHL debut. It is all tied up at 1-1 with 8:45 to play in the game.
- Definitely not the start that the Predators were hoping for. In the first 90 seconds, Ryan Poehling took the bucks along the sideboards and made a cross-ice pass to Cutter Gauthier for the game’s first goal of the game. Ducks lead the Predators 1-0 two minutes into the game,
