Carlos Sainz put in the fastest time during Free Practice One ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix.

Following the Ferrari driver was Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris who put in the second and third fastest times, respectively.

With it being a sprint race weekend, this is the only free practice session before qualifying later today.

The rain-soaked session made visibility an issue for the drivers. This would have sometimes led some drivers to miss out on the session if it had been a conventional race weekend, but with this being their only opportunity to get out on track before qualifying the majority of the drivers got some laps under their belt.

A red flag was put on the session after Logan Sargeant aquaplaned and collided with the race wall at the end of the Kemmel Straight, where a lot of drivers have been having issues spinning off but the others thankfully managed to avoid any damage.

As the rain continued to pour down, questions began to arise over whether the qualifying session will go ahead later today. The FIA confirmed that if qualifying is cancelled, the starting grid for the Grand Prix on Sunday will be based on the current drivers' championship standings.
