Rain has been falling all morning leaving the drivers taking the track on either the wet weather tyres or intermediate tyres. After Daniel Ricciardo was left with a broken wrist after his crash at Turn 3 yesterday, Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson stepped into the AlphaTauri in his place. The New Zealander was dropped straight into the deep end with just one wet practice session before qualifying.

The rain proved difficult to manage with a lot of the drivers losing control and spinning off including Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc who managed to avoid collisions. Kevin Magnussen, on the other hand, span out on an out lap and collided with the wall at Turn 3 and Zhou Guanyu lost control just before the final corner leaving him beached in the gravel. Both the Haas and Alfa Romeo drivers were out of the session.

With just over ten minutes to go, both Esteban Ocon and Liam Lawson span out on the wet track. The latter caused the third red flag of the session although he managed to get the AlphaTauri AT04 turned around and was able to drive back to the pits.
