The first free practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix has come to a close, and barely even started for that matter. Upset fans have been taking to social media to hit out at the F1 and FIA after the session was red-flagged after about seven minutes.

Just four minutes into the session Pierre Gasly's A523 came to a halt on the track with what was anticipated to be a clutch issue, causing a yellow flag in sector two. As Gasly's car was removed from the track, a red flag was put on the session which ended lasting until the end as there was issues with the CCTV around the track.

An update was shared to social media, which read:

"The delay to FP1 will continue as the CCTV is not synced correctly and until the issue has been fixed track action can’t resume. This system is a local installation and circuit management are continuing to work to resolve the problem.

"The clock will continue to run down on FP1 and the session won’t be extended as per the rules there must be 2.5hrs between FP1 and FP2. F1 and the FIA are looking at options to extend FP2."

Outraged fans took to the comments, hitting out at the F1 and FIA. One fan responded:

"Absolutely ridiculous.. F1 is becoming a joke"

Someone else claimed that instances like this were "killing the enthusiasm for the sport". They wrote:

"You guys are doing a really bad job these days and just killing people's enthusiasm for the sport."
"Embarrassing absolutely embarrassing"

Another angered fan wrote:

"F1 is a laughing stock this is embarrassing, this isn’t good enough for the fans!"
