F1 fans have suggested a change to the broadcast which would help viewers keep track of in-race penalties.

This comes after the Austrian Grand Prix penalty chaos. Multiple drivers were handed penalties during the race for exceeding track limits, however, after Aston Martin lodged a complaint with the stewards after the race celebrations were over, eight drivers were then slapped with more penalties hours after the race had finished.

Track limits were proving to be a problem throughout the whole weekend at the Red Bull Ring and fans have suggested that it would be easier to keep track if it is shown which drivers have been shown the black and white flag, which is their last warning before a 5-second penalty, and which drivers have been given a penalty and are yet to serve it.

Taking to social media, one fan posted:

"Some small additions to the timing tower that I think could've made today's race easier to follow with all the penalties."

Others were quick to point out that the broadcasters used to use graphics similar to this but they removed them for some reason, and they are calling for them to return.

"Outstanding penalties? Please yes! It was impossible to follow and them showing the list of outstanding penalties during the race underlines this lack of information."
"We've had the "under investigation" graphic back in 2021 (in Jeddah for example), but I don't recall the 5 seconds graphic, I might be wrong tho."
"We had it, both for under investigation and penalties, don't know why they removed it."
