The Alpine F1 Team has recently faced mounting pressure from Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi following a lacklustre start to the 2023 season. Rossi's frustration mirrors that of the entire team, which had high hopes for the season after finishing fourth in the Constructors' Championship last year.

With the expectation of retaining their position as the fourth in the championship behind top teams Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari, Alpine's underwhelming performance in pre-season testing was a warning sign of the difficulties to come. The team has only scored points in three of the first five races and is currently sitting in sixth place in the Constructors' Championship, behind McLaren.

While the double-points finish in Miami offered a glimmer of hope, CEO Rossi has made it clear that consequences will be enforced if the team's form doesn't improve soon. Addressing speculation about Rossi's dissatisfaction, Esteban Ocon remained focused on his racing, stating:

“I’m focusing on my racing.

"My job is to deliver on track and get the maximum out of the car."

Pierre Gasly, the team's new addition for the season, confirmed that they are in constant communication with Rossi and Renault CEO Luca de Meo. While he believes that the team is moving in the right direction after picking up six points in Miami, there is a palpable sense of disappointment and frustration among the Alpine squad.

Gasly acknowledged that the team has not capitalised on all of their opportunities and that they want to be competing with the top teams. However, he remains optimistic that Alpine is not far from achieving their goal.

“It’s a constant conversation with Laurent and Luca and everyone in the team.

“I think we are all disappointed with the start in the first four races but we didn’t manage to capitalise on all the opportunities we had and that is why I think today [in Miami] it’s good to score with both cars.

“We obviously want more and be fighting with Mercedes and Ferrari and the guys ahead of us and I think we’re not too far from that.”
