Mario Andretti has given another update on the quest of Andretti Cadillac joining the Formula One grid.

The Expressions of Interest process is still ongoing with the FIA and Formula One Management. FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has openly expressed his desire of welcoming an All-American team as well as a Chinese team to the grid. Sulayem has also commented, "How could I say no to General Motors?" giving a promising sign for the hopeful team.

During a recent interview with RacingNews365, Andretti has given another update on the process explaining that he is expecting an answer in September. He explained:

"From our standpoint, we're just going along with the process and trying to fill in all the boxes.

"We've done it all and now it is in [the FIA and F1's] hands and it is just a waiting situation now, but we should know something shortly.

"There is not a specific timeline, but we have been told early September [to expect a decision whether to grant entry.]

"Not only [is coming in in 2025] beneficial, but it is a key factor.

"That is something that's been put forward quite strongly and I think it makes sense.

"At first, [we were targetting] 2024, but as the process dragged on, 2025 became more feasible, and so that is what we are working towards."

Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko recently advised Andretti to buy out Alpine after the abrupt dismissal of their team principal Otmar Szafnauer and sporting director Alan Permane. Andretti had previously considered purchasing Sauber but this didn't go through. Speaking about the recent comments from Marko, Andretti explained:

"We're obviously open to any opportunity.

"But a lot of it in that respect has been exhausted already quite honestly as far as buying another team."
