Once the team understands how to setup their newly upgraded car, they should be as fast as Red Bull if wind tunnel results are to be trusted.

In a report from Auto Motor und Sport, the website has revealed that Aston Martin expects to be driving at the same pace as Red Bull with the new upgrades brought to the Canadian Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso was able to clinch P2 at the Canadian Grand Prix after nursing the car over the chequered flag due to a suspected fuelling issue. He was able to fight off Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, and was expected to be able to reach Max Verstappen if he wasn't lifting and coasting.

The Silverstone-based team brought significant changes to their sidepods, and now, if they are able to understand their upgrades, wind tunnel data has revealed that they'll be as fast as the Adrian Newey-designed RB19s.

"We will only be able to optimise the package in Spielberg and Silverstone," Alonso said after the race last weekend.

Verstappen won at the Montreal circuit by over 10 seconds while nursing a bird that got lodged in a brake duct. So while there's optimism at Aston Martin, let's not get our hopes up just yet.
