An F1 insider has revealed that staff at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix have been told to not go back tomorrow or until further notice.

F1 News: Emilia Romagna GP Staff Told To "Not Attend Until Further Notice" As Cancellation Concerns Rise

Staff working in the Formula 1 paddock for the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix have been told to not go to the circuit tomorrow after being sent home today amid ongoing severe weather.

Reports began to emerge at the beginning of the week or red and orange weather warnings in the Emilia Romagna region of rain, thunderstorms, and wind. Floods have been sweeping the area with many residents with their homes and cars under water. There has been a huge amount of speculation since the reports have been released over whether the race will go ahead this weekend or not. 

Staff who had began work in the paddock earlier today were ordered to leave as the floods seemed to worsen, and now, according to Formula Nerds, the staff have been told to not go back tomorrow. Formula Nerds took to social media to explain what they had been told by an insider working at the Imola track. They posted:

"We have heard the following from one of our friends in the F1 paddock:

“'Teams have been told not to attend the circuit tomorrow- until further notice. There will be a meeting of the relevant authorities tomorrow morning'”

There have currently been no formal announcements from F1 or the event organisers for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, however, according to the update from Formula Nerds, we can expect to hear an update from them after the meeting with the "relevant authorities tomorrow morning".

The Grand Prix weekend is due to begin on Friday 19 May with the first two free practice sessions. Saturday is due to hold the third free practice session and qualifying before the grand prix on Sunday.
