As the Monaco Grand Prix weekend approaches, the price of the yacht berths has been revealed, leaving fans in shock.

Sports journalist Vincenzo Landino has shared the prices to social media, including what the prices increase to especially for the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. He posted:

"This is Monaco's Port Hercule, with 760 berths that cost €1,200 per day for superyacht mooring.

"During F1 season, the prices increase to €3,500 per night, with the finest berths costing as much as €100,000 for five days. And it's not even the most expensive in the world."

Landino went on to reveal some of the prices for other marinas as a comparison. He added:

"Marina Grande in Capri, one of Italy's oldest fishing settlements, is reportedly the world's most expensive marina at an average daily cost of over €3,000. And with just 300 berths, bookings are necessary months in advance.

"Porto Cervo on Sardegna has daily rates of €2,500+ and then the Marina di Portofino with rates amounting to €2,100+ all top the list of most expensive marinas in the world."

F1 fans were reacting to the eye-watering prices in the comments with one fan in particular explaining it is a shame that the money does not always trickle down to the local community. They wrote:

"It's a darn shame sporting events never affect the local economy."

Another fan said that the prices were "disgusting". They commented:

"Is this supposed to impress me? I find the over the top excess disgusting."

The high-prices of attending an F1 race has been a talking point for many years, with ticket prices continuing to rise it is becoming much more difficult for the average fan to go and take in the atmosphere of a race weekend.
