F1 fans have been taking to social media to give their thoughts on the latest rule-change ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend, which states which tyres drivers must use during the qualifying session.

Formula 1 has implemented revised rules for qualifying at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola. The changes include a limited number of tyre sets and mandated compounds for each segment. In Q1, drivers must use Hard tyres, while those advancing to Q2 can only use Medium tyres. The top 10 drivers in the pole position shootout will have the chance to use Soft tyres. The total number of dry weather tyres available to each driver has been reduced from 13 sets to 11.

One fan posted to Twitter, jokingly:

“'SO AFTER THEY TRIED THAT ONE LAP QUALIFYING FORMAT IN AZERBAIJAN GP, NOW THEY WANT FORMULA 1 TEAMS USE ALL TIRES COMPOUNDS IN IMOLA GP QUALI (HARDS Q1,MEDIUMS Q2 AND SOFTS in Q3) WELL NONE IF IT MATTERS ANYWAY SINCE RB19 CAN WIN FROM P15 OR LAST IF MAX WANTS TO'"

Someone else pointed out that this could be a challenge for Mercedes who are bringing in major upgrades this weekend. They posted:

"With all of their updates will be a real challenge for Mercedes to figure out how their car works on all three compounds."

Another F1 fan, who is clearly not impressed by the new format, posted:

"God lord I forgot about that s**t"

A lot of fans are of the opinion 'if it isn't broken, don't fix it'. This fan commented:

"Why can’t they just leave it alone? Practice, qualy & race day. Fri, Sat & Sun. So simple. I don’t even know what’s going on most race weekends now"

Another upset fan posted:

"F1: wants more fans Also F1: invents every horrible way of destroying the sport"
