F1 fans have been taking to social media amid concerns about the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix being cancelled this weekend, sharing photos of the area that has been hit with horrendous floods and raising awareness for the tragic loss of life in the area.

Reports were released yesterday to show a red weather warning in Emilia Romagna for rain and an orange weather warnings for wind and thunderstorms. One fan took to Twitter to show photos to those complaining about the possibility of the Grand Prix being cancelled. They wrote:

"Not people complaining that the Imola GP might get cancelled when Emilia Romagna looks like this rn"

The photos show the floods throughout the region with water coming up above peoples cars. According to local reports, there have sadly been two fatalities caused from the flooding and a landslide.

Another Twitter user posted some more photos from the area, writing:

"These pictures from the region around #Imola are present in social media right now. However, they are two weeks old and date from 02/03 May. After this enormous rain, the soils are very saturated now and flooding will be possible again, at least regionally."

Someone else commented:

"Sure... there's a chance that rain could jeopardise the Imola GP weekend but honestly... that doesn't matter. What does matter is that the people living in the region stay safe, in what are atrocious weather conditions. #ImolaGP #F1"

Another concerned fan posted:

"Just woke up and am absolutely devastated after seeing the pictures of Emilia Romagna. My heart goes out to anyone who is effected and i hope everyone ends up safe"

There have been no official announcements from the F1 or FIA as to whether the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will go ahead, however, there is no doubt they will be assessing the situation closely over the next couple of days.
