To be honest, we're all bored to have witnessed Red Bull smash all eight grand prix of the season this year as they head toward the constructors' championship. The gap between Red Bull and Mercedes currently stands at 154 points!

Max Verstappen leads at the top of the Drivers' standings after winning six of the eight races while teammate Sergio Perez falls behind by 69 points.

FIA Director Nikolas Tombazis assures that they're trying to get the pack closer through new ground effect regulations, the budget cap, and sliding scale on allotted wind tunnel time.

Despite the significant distance Red Bull has pulled for itself, Tombazis insists that this lead is temporary. He says that Red Bull would soon fall into the action happening behind them between Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Ferrari, which have been making significant changes to their cars.

Speaking to Corriere della Sera, he says:

“Putting Red Bull aside, everyone else is close, and I think it’s only a matter of time before performance convergence is achieved.

"Maybe it will be achieved in the next few months, maybe it will be early next year.”

Adding to Tombazis' confidence is the fact that Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Mercedes have been taking design inspiration from Red Bull's RB19 Formula 1 car.

Ferrari has made recent changes to its design through the addition of Red Bull-like sidepods. Mercedes has followed suit. By the looks of it Tombazis says, it has been paying off.

“Almost everyone is going towards the Red Bull technical concept – even Mercedes and Ferrari.

We hope to see very close World Championships again, maybe like it was in 2021. But we cannot create them artificially.

We cannot fight against the ability of some to do a better job than others. It must be admitted that there are those who have done better with these rules.”

The FIA seems very hopeful of creating a 2021-like season and we're sure that has also been the preference of most F1 fans. But, how soon could we witness such a scene is something that can't be predicted.
