F1 News: How The Championship Stands Ahead Of The Mexican GP

With just four races to go of the 2023 season both the drivers' and constructors' titles have been taken by Max Verstappen and Red Bull, but the race for second in both standings continues.
As the F1 heads into the Mexican Grand Prix weekend, we are taking a look at how the championships currently stand.

Drivers' Standings
Sergio Perez, who heads into his home race, is defending second position in the standings from Lewis Hamilton. After his fourth place finish and Hamilton's disqualification in the Austin Grand Prix last weekend, the gap between the two drivers is now 39 points.
Carlos Sainz is also closing in on Fernando Alonso in fourth with a gap of just 12 points separating the two Spanish drivers.
Logan Sargeant also took home his first Formula One point in the Austin Grand Prix after the two disqualifications were applied to the top 10. This leaves Daniel Ricciardo as the only driver to score a point in 2023, apart from Nyck de Vries who the former replaced after 10 races of his rookie season.

Constructors' Standings
Mercedes is holding on to P2 in the constructors' standings with Ferrari 22 points behind them. If Ferrari do not overtake the Brackley-based squad, they are secure in third with 80 points behind them to McLaren in fourth position.
AlphaTauri, which has been struggling all season to get out of the last spot, is closing in on Haas. There are now just two points separating them after the Austin Grand Prix.
