Logan Sargeant has spoken out since his disappointing Dutch Grand Prix retirement, explaining that as he touched the kerb he encountered a power steering and hydraulics issue.

The American driver has had a "tricky" race weekend which started with the high of getting through to Q3 for the first time in his F1 career only to crash to start from tenth position on the grid.

The Williams team then managed to get his FW45 repaired for the Grand Prix but he unfortunately had a similar fate. The heavy rain during the race in Zandvoort added to the difficulty and drama and Sargeant revealed that he struggled to keep the temperature in his tyres.

During the post-race round-up with the Williams team, Sargeant reflected on his weekend:

"It was a tricky start to the race with the rain coming down. It looks like the Inters [intermediate tyres] were maybe the better option, but we tried to survive out there on the slicks and, after yesterday, I was just trying to be extremely cautious and build up nicely, but I lost a bit too much tyre temperature in those wet conditions.

"Then, unfortunately, it didn't end the way we wanted it to. I touched the kerb and it seems that from the impact of that we had an issue with hydraulics and power steering. Once I lost that assistance there was really nothing I could do.

"I still need to watch it back, but we need to look into what went wrong. I want to say a huge thank you to the team for getting the car turned around for today."

Sargeant's teammate Alex Albon managed to finish the race in eighth position, picking up four points for the team.
