F1 News: Max Verstappen And Engineer Gianpiero Lambiase To Spend Holiday Together

Recounting the eventful Belgian Grand Prix, Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko couldn't contain his happiness. It was a sweeping victory for the Milton Keynes team as Max Verstappen made an impressive climb from P6 to P1. Not only did he take the lead, but he also managed to finish a significant 22 seconds ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez. But the focus landed on Verstappen and his argument with his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase. It's Marko revealed that they're now taking a holiday together.
Marko, chatting with Sky Sports' German arm, first admitted:
"It was a very difficult race because it was raining." Amidst the challenge of the downpour, Verstappen had a near miss at Eau Rouge. "Max had a critical moment at Eau Rouge, otherwise, it was a very convincing performance," he continued.
Despite the unforgiving conditions at Spa-Francorchamps, he almost lost control of his RB19 when the rain began to fall. But for that one hiccup, Verstappen's journey to victory was executed with little fuss.
Praising Verstappen's display over the weekend, Marko said:
"The whole weekend was an incredible performance from him. It's done with ease and agility and that already elevates him to the greats of this sport.
"How much further that can go, I don't know. The end of this development is not yet in sight. We and the team take our hats off," and he acknowledged Verstappen's remarkable feat.
Reflecting on the performance of Red Bull Racing's other driver, Sergio Perez, Marko was equally pleased. He noted:
"He too was very strong all weekend, and we knew he would be one of the top drivers. As I said before, nobody looks good compared to Max. Of course, he's trying to win, but that's just not possible next to Max," the Austrian consultant simply put it.
Turning his attention to the evident friction between Verstappen and his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, Marko remarked on the tension that seemed to infiltrate the team radio.
He quipped, "I heard that they are going to spend two days on an island in the Mediterranean. I said my phone is on in case it escalates."
However, delving a bit deeper, Marko insisted:
"They work at a very high level and they respect each other. They both have a temperament. If you know the background, you will understand. I don't want to explain that in detail. It was all about the fastest lap and what the other driver was doing."
