F1 News: Max Verstappen Makes Blunder As He Champions Fernando Alonso

Formula One's reigning titan Max Verstappen recently shared a candid moment, expressing a heartfelt preference for another racer's victory, should he not triumph in this year's races. However, he awkwardly forgot to champion his own teammate Sergio Perez.
The Dutch driver showed respect for a fellow two-time champion, Fernando Alonso, asserting that if he can't clinch a win himself, he'd be more than glad to see Alonso on the podium.
Red Bull has been enjoying a dream run, effortlessly clinching all seven races of the current season. The Dutch prodigy confessed, despite the momentum in his favour, that he'd be thrilled to see a victory for Alonso. Verstappen explained:
"If you ask me one driver who I would like to see win a race, it's him [Fernando Alonso]."
In a high-praise homage to Alonso, Verstappen emphasised that the two-time champion "deserves it - he is a real racer." The Spanish driver has had an incredible season so far with Aston Martin, bagging a podium finish in five out of the seven races so far, putting him currently third in the championship.
Verstappen added:
"I like him. He never gave up and you can see he loves the sport. Sometimes, after so many years of only having a car that is capable of driving in the midfield, maybe you lose a bit of that love but he is a real racer. He is an animal."
There has been a lot of support for Alonso to get his 33rd career race win this season and with the upgrades that Aston Martin are bringing to the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, many have high hopes for the Spanish driver.
If Alonso was to win a race before Lewis Hamilton this season, he would be the first driver in the history of the sport to win a race after entering more than 300 races.
