The battle for the pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix was a nail-biter, with Max Verstappen narrowly losing out by an incredibly tiny margin of just three-thousandths of a second. His perennial rival, Lewis Hamilton, stepped up to secure P1, flying the flag for Mercedes at the very front of the grid. Meanwhile, Red Bull continues to grapple with striking the right setup at the challenging Hungaroring.

The weekend presented a slew of challenges for Verstappen, as he candidly opened up about his struggles. The delicate task of finding the perfect balance for his usually-highly performing RB19 proved elusive.

"I’ve been struggling the whole weekend to find a good balance – every session has been up and down," the racer confessed, hinting at the fluctuating fortunes he encountered in the practice sessions.

"Today also in qualifying, it was really difficult. Q1, Q2 to feel confident, to really attack corners. I thought my first run in Q3 was quite good, but then second run, again no feeling. I tried to push a little more – you lose the rear, lose the front."

Despite the superior machinery at his disposal, Verstappen was left contemplating what could have been. The fact that they're fighting once again with Mercedes on the right side of the grid is worrying for the Dutch driver.

"We’re still second, but I think we should be ahead with the car we have normally, but so far this weekend I think we haven’t been on it."

Verstappen didn't lay the blame on the car's updates, however, acknowledging the setup issues that had plagued their weekend.

"I think the update works, but I think we just really didn’t put everything together setup wise because I just think today everything has just been all over the shop and not exactly where we wanted to be," he admitted.
