From the moment Michael Schumacher first laced up his race boots and pulled on a helmet, the gifted racer was nothing short of a phenomenon—a force of nature who would go on to dominate the highest echelons of competitive motorsport. RM Sotheby’s is proud to present Full Throttle – The Schumacher Collection—amassed by a Japanese consignor, a passionate Formula 1 and Michael Schumacher fan—a curated selection of 150 artifacts from a glittering career, assembled over a 30-year period with a dedication and commitment echoing that of its subject.

Among this treasured collection of artwork and automobilia are more than 75 lots of race-worn clothing and equipment spanning the breadth of Schumacher’s career, including a selection of helmets from his earliest days in karting. Highlights from his breakthrough 1989 debut season in Formula 3 include an incredible race-worn helmet, along with a bottle of champagne signed by none other than Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Schumacher would go on to be crowned German Champion in 1990 before breaking into Formula 1, claiming his first Formula 1 World Championship in 1994 and his second in 1995.

Without doubt, his greatest triumphs came following his move to Scuderia Ferrari in 1999—a rich period of Formula 1 history that would see Schumacher win five consecutive World Championships from 2000 to 2004. Among the special lots representing this period include the very helmet worn during the 2002 Japanese and Hungarian Grand Prix weekends, where he finished 1st and 2nd, respectively, and the 2003 Italian Grand Prix race suit in which he captured a stunning pole position, fastest lap, and overall victory at Monza.
