F1 News: Michael Schumacher's 1994 Championship Title Called Into Question By Close Friend

Michael Schumacher's legendary status in F1 racing is undisputed. However, recent comments have brought a controversial chapter of his career back into focus by his close friend and F1 journalist Roger Benoit.
The contention revolves around the 1994 season, where Schumacher's collision with Damon Hill during the season finale earned him the World Champion title. This incident has long been a subject of debate: Did Schumacher intentionally cause damage, eliminating both drivers from contention and thus securing his championship?

Benoit holds strong views on this topic. In a conversation with the German publication Bild, he stated:
"Of course, I know that he was world champion seven times. But the 1994 title should actually be taken away from him because he only won it because of his foul on Damon Hill.”
With seven world titles, Schumacher stands alongside Lewis Hamilton as the most celebrated drivers in F1 history. This also comes after Brazilian driver Felipe Massa is seeking legal action against Formula One Management for the infamous 2008 'crashgate' scandal which lost him the championship to Hamilton.
Although this has not concluded yet, Massa's lawyers recently expressed the belief that Hamilton should support them as he fights for the "integrity of the sport".
Benoit was also asked during the interview if he knew of an update on Schumacher's recovery, to which he responded:
“No.
"There is only one answer to this question and that is what his son Mick gave in one of his rare interviews in 2022: ‘I would give anything to talk to dad’.
"This sentence says everything about how his father has been doing for over 3500 days. A case without hope.”
