F1 News: Nico Hulkenberg Causes Red Flag At Monaco FP1 After Collision

Nico Hulkenberg has brought the Monaco GP Free Practice One session to a red flag with about twenty-one minutes to go after colliding with the race wall.
The German driver hit the raised inside part of the kerb going round the chicane which caused his Haas car to spin, clipping the rear left tyre on the race wall. Hulkenberg managed to crawl back to the pits slow enough to mitigate any damage from the tyre which had come off the wheel.
However, the small collision did leave some debris on the track meaning the stewards felt it was necessary to put the session under red flag conditions.

As the session got going again, Hulkenberg stayed in the pits whilst the Haas engineers worked on repairing the car. However, it is anticipated that he will be able to rejoin the session, unless there is further damage found that could not be seen.
Sky Sports F1 pundit Ted Kravitz explained that as the car drove past him slowly into the pits, he could not see any further damage and he congratulated the driver for minimising the impact of the collision.
