The AlphaTauri AT04 has been revealed in what was one of the weirdest reveals so far this F1 season. But while fans flocked to Twitter to reflect on the short, underwhelming release video, a Q&A was released on the official website.

Within this Q&A, AlphaTauri newcomer Nyck de Vries reflected on the long journey he took before reaching F1, focussing on his appreciation for the team:

"First of all, to get the opportunity to live my dream, but equally to be very excited and motivated to perform and to deliver.

De Vries has been targetted for being slightly older than most F1 driers when they join the grid at the age of 28, but he is a thoroughly experienced and successful racing driver with a Formula 2 championship to his name, as well as a Formula E championship with Mercedes.

With a seat in AlphaTauri, he now has a chance to explore his potential against teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who some believe may not be able to outperform the Dutch driver.

"I think partly because my journey has been slightly unusual and longer, I’m even more grateful for the opportunity, more motivated to grab it and hungrier to show what I’m worth."

The driver is obviously feeling optimistic about the upcoming season, and welcomes the Dutch support that will be cheering him on during the year.

"I don’t know how much the support will be divided between [me and Max Verstappen]. Of course, the fans are behind Max and now they have a second Dutch driver to cheer for!"

We're excited to see Nyck take to F1 as he seeks to show dominance in a team that needs some poke.
