F1 News: Red Bull Chief Fuels Alex Albon Rumours

Red Bull chief Christian Horner has fuelled recent rumours of Alex Albon potentially replacing Sergio Perez within the team.

Albon's performance at the Canadian Grand Prix has led many to champion him to be the replacement for Perez, who's seat at Red Bull has been a huge talking point so far this season. The Mexican driver has struggled to put in a comparable performance to Max Verstappen in the most dominant car on the grid, and although his contract runs until the end of 2024 many believe it will not be extended or could even end early.

It is worth noting that nothing has been confirmed by either the team or driver.

Now, eagle-eyed fans have spotted that Horner has liked Williams recent post of Albon with the caption, "Your Driver Of The Day". One fan commented, joking that Albon is already a Red Bull, and sharing a photo of when the British-Thai driver was with the team. They posted:

Albon had his rookie F1 season in 2019 with Toro Rosso before moving up to Red Bull later the same year to replace Pierre Gasly. After three seasons with the Austrian team, Albon lost his seat and moved to Williams in 2022.

Others took the opportunity to joke about Horner asking Albon to come back to the team as well as pointing out that silly season is about to begin for 2023.
