F1 News: This Is When Max Verstappen Could Win His Third Championship

Max Verstappen has been dominating the 2023 F1 season winning eight of the ten races so far, and it has now been worked out when the Dutch driver could claim his third championship title.

The Red Bull driver is currently leading the drivers' championship with 255 points and a 99-point lead over his teammate Sergio Perez who is in second place with 156 points. The Austrian team is also leading the constructors' championship with 411 points. Mercedes, who is currently in second, has 203 points.

Formula Nerds has worked out when Verstappen could take his third-championship win, which would see him level with the likes of Niki Lauda, his partner's father Nelson Piquet, Ayrton Senna, and Sir Jackie Stewart. Formula Nerds shared:

"Max needs 193 points to secure his 3rd World Championship if Perez decides to give him a proper fight to the end. The earliest it could happen is at the Qatar Grand Prix with how the standings look right now.

"In this extreme scenario we have developed, Max wins the next 7 races including taking 2 FL points while Perez gets p2 each weekend before winning the last 5 races + 2 sprints where Max gets no points. Max wins the championship by 1 point."

They continued:

"With how the season has been, it is unlikely that Perez will be able to challenge Max at such a high level or that Max would suffer so many rounds without scoring any points so realistically the championship could be done & dusted a couple of races before Qatar."

The next important F1 date is 21-23 July for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
