F1 Photographer Relives Hilarious Michael Schumacher Moment That No One Would Believe

Daniel Reinhard has been a photographer for Formula 1 for quite some time. This talented Swiss camera jockey has borne witness to the exhilarating highs and crushing lows of motorsport's most prestigious class, and now in a recent interview with German magazine Der Spiegel, Reinhard told a hilarious story of an encounter between himself and Michael Schumacher.

An Unforgettable Encounter with the Schumacher Brothers

This memorable incident took place at the Silverstone Circuit in 2000, involving Reinhard and both Schumacher siblings – Michael and Ralf. Recounting the event, Reinhard says:

"I had snapped a photo of Ralf, Michael's younger brother, as he knelt on the grid before climbing into his Williams car. Michael, who held the pole position just ahead of Ralf, managed to roll his rear wheel over my foot while parking."

F1 cars may be light, but you'll still be reeling in pain after such a moment. The following day, he paid a visit to his doctor. Upon being asked about the cause of his injury, Reinhard recalls:

"I told him he wouldn't believe me anyway." Despite the doctor's insistence, Reinhard hesitated to reveal the truth. Finally, he confessed, "Michael Schumacher ran over my foot yesterday."

The doctor's response? A hearty laugh followed by, "That's a great story, but please tell me the truth."

The legend of Michael Schumacher lives on despite the driver not being a part of the sport since his accident on December 29, 2013. Since then, little is known of his condition, but his son Mick is still working towards reinserting himself onto the grid after leaving Haas to become a reserve driver for Mercedes.
