Formula 1 is looking to perfect the pre-race introductions with the help of the FIA and the Grand Prix Drivers' Association, after the mixed response at the Miami Grand Prix last weekend.

The recent changes to the grid procedure added an extra 10 minutes to the pre-race build-up to accommodate additional ceremonies, where LL Cool J presented each driver while will.i.am conducted a live orchestra performing his new song, 'The Formula'.

The drivers walked out in front of the crowd in reverse championship order before taking their positions for the national anthem.

However, drivers had mixed feelings about the new introductions. Some loved it, while others thought it could use some tweaking. One of the main criticisms was the fact the drivers had to be out in the heat of Miami in their race suits for thirty minutes before the race. Many of the drivers have a pre-race ritual of their own to get into the zone which they were not able to do for the new procedure.

Mercedes driver, George Russell, revealed after the Miami Grand Prix that it "wasn't for him" and that he found it "distracting".

Despite this, Formula 1 plans to hold up to six or seven more introductions throughout the remainder of the 2023 season. The organisers believe that the spectacle will add to the fan experience.

It is unclear when the next pre-race procedure will take place, however, it is fair to say the remaining two American races in Austin and Las Vegas are likely to feature similar introductions.
