F1 fans have hit out at the FIA for their latest rule change which forbids teams from climbing the pitwall fencing as part of their celebrations at the end of the race.

This rule change comes in ahead of the Australian Grand Prix this weekend and fans feel it is putting a dampener on the excitement of the end of the race. Fans have taken to social media to react to the new tightening of the rule, which could end with teams receiving penalties if they continue to celebrate in that way.

One fan commented:

"FIA next week. 'No spraying of Champagne, 1. Slip hazard, 2. It proper stings people's eyes!'"

Another fan argued that people were allowed to walk through the pits during last years Australian Grand Prix which poses a much bigger safety risk. They wrote:

"While on the other hand they let celebrities during the race in the pit lane. Albon had last year in Australia to be careful not to run over them when he pitted on the last lap."

Someone else commented that it will be making the sport boring and less exciting to watch, writing:

"Yes, let's make it boring like Golf. You're already making it expensive (like Golf ;) )"

Whilst some fans were commenting in agreement with the FIA understanding that it could be a safety issue, others are upset that it will be taking the excitement out of the sport and argue that it has been done for years without any issues. Another fan responded:

"The maximum level of excitement and happiness now allowed for team personnel in @F1 now"

Someone else commented:

"The @fia is trying to suck all the character out of F1. Honestly don’t see what the problem with this is, teams have done it for years - before catch fencing they just leaned over the pit wall."
