Fiery Crash Turns Almost Deadly In F2 Incident As Marshal Almost Gets Hit

A chilling incident unfolded at the Formula 2 Monaco Grand Prix when Australian Jack Doohan found himself in a fiery crash. As an added layer of suspense, a marshal, who was busy trying to extinguish the growing fire, narrowly escaped being hit by another race car.

Doohan, part of the Alpine Academy,  crashed at the entrance to Casino Square during Sunday's feature race ahead of the F1. The accident happened just beyond a blind corner, prompting the immediate deployment of yellow flags. Still, a Red Bull junior car came dangerously close to colliding with Doohan's immobilised vehicle and the marshals working on the vehicle to extinguish the flames.

Once Doohan had safely exited his car, marshals quickly took to the track, braving the imminent danger to quell the escalating blaze. However, the precarious situation nearly turned catastrophic when Victor Martins, who was running second, ascended the hill at high speed. Martins, apparently not slowing down sufficiently, was forced to make a sudden turn to the right of the track to avoid colliding with one of the marshals.

For this risky act, Martins was issued a drive-through penalty, serving as a stark reminder of the importance of safety protocols in racing. Not long after, race officials called a halt to the proceedings, flying a red flag as a consequence of the incident.

With the race eventually resumed, it was Frederik Vesti who triumphed, crossing the finish line ahead of Theo Pourchaire.
