Former Red Bull F1 Driver Attacked In Yet Another Watch Robbery

Former Red Bull F1 driver Robert Doornbos has spoken out about a recent robbery in which he was attacked with a bat and had his Rolex watch stolen. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning in Soetendaal, Amsterdam.
According to a police statement, Doornbos was approached by two assailants, one of whom was carrying a bat, shortly after parking his car. The attackers hit him over the head with the bat and then stole his watch and phone.
Doornbos has since said that the attack has put him off wearing expensive items and that he now only wears an Apple Watch. He described the incident as "intense".
“It was intense. I no longer wear expensive watches, only an Apple Watch, so at least I can count my steps.”.
A report read:
“The victim got out of his car at Soetendaal around 00:15 after parking, when almost immediately an unknown man approached him with an accelerated pace,” a police statement told us.
“He has a bat in his hand. The victim was hit in the head with the bat.
“A second unknown man joins the man with the bat. Together they violently attack the victim.
“While the victim defends himself and calls for help, he is robbed of a precious watch and his phone.
“As soon as the loot is in, the duo runs away from the Soetendaal, turn right in the direction of Vijverhoef.”
News of the robbery comes just days after Italian police arrested four people in connection with the theft of Charles Leclerc's bespoke Richard Mille watch, worth €2 million. The Ferrari driver had noticed the watch was missing after obliging fans with a selfie.
Last year, McLaren driver Lando Norris was also the victim of a robbery when his £144,000 Richard Mille watch was stolen after the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium. The suspect was recently found not guilty by the police.
