George Russell Weighs In On Relinquishing Podium Finish To Fernando Alonso

Russell has admitted that it was "a shame" to have such a confusing end to the last race.

George Russell has spoken out about losing his P3 place at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in what was a confusing turn of events for everyone involved. 

In what was a thrilling and controversial race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Fernando Alonso managed to secure his 100th podium finish in Formula 1. However, the moment of joy for the Spaniard was short-lived as he was handed a 10-second penalty for improper positioning at the start of the race. This decision by the FIA led to confusion and frustration for Alonso, who felt optimistic about his chances with Aston Martin.

Despite the setback, Alonso slammed the FIA for their strange decision-making.

This confusing turn of events left many drivers and fans feeling disappointed, including Mercedes driver George Russell, who gave his P3 result back to Alonso. Reflecting on the situation, Russell expressed his disappointment, saying:

"P4 it is then! Correct decision in the end but a shame for all the fans and everyone involved that we had all that confusion. 

"Still a strong weekend. Let's keep it going."

Nonetheless, he has remained optimistic and focused on continuing his strong performance through the rest of the season.
