Lewis Hamilton Continues Bid To Purchase Manchester United Football Club

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his connection to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid to purchase Manchester United football club.
It has been reported over the last few months that Ratcliffe put an unsuccessful bid in for the Chelsea football club and then had registered his interest for Manchester United.
Ratcliffe is a part-owner of the Mercedes F1 team which is why the seven-time champion has been reported to be involved with a potential purchase. During the teams launch of the W14 this morning, Hamilton spoke about the situation. He explained:
"I am very close with Jim so I am aware of where he is at [with United]. We talk a lot about football as he is very passionate about it. We have great discussions about what his team is doing, we talk about how Arsenal is playing.
"Obviously he is from Manchester so that is his dream home... where he comes from. But there is no further information I can give you on that."
Sports team ownership is a venture that Lewis Hamilton seems to be increasingly interested in. In fact, the Formula 1 champion made headlines last year when he acquired a stake in the Denver Broncos, an NFL franchise.
His investment in the team raised eyebrows, as he had previously not shown much interest in American football.
Hamilton spoke out on the potential partnership with Ratcliffe recently, saying:
"Jim's part boss but partner – I'd say we're more partners because we're in this together and I hope in future to do something with Jim and build with him. I don't know where that will be or what that will be, so I can't really say.
"I haven't had a call from him asking if I want to be involved in [a United takeover bid] just yet, but I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in black ownership – there is a lack of it in sports – and black equity. Again, there is a real lack of that."
