Max Verstappen Wasn't Pushing It Despite Winning Bahrain GP With Huge Lead

Max Verstappen made a statement at the opening race of the 2023 F1 season in Bahrain, securing pole position and dominating the race from start to finish. The Red Bull driver showed off his skills and proved to be untouchable on the track, leaving his competitors in the dust.
Pole Position Glory
The young Belgian-Dutch driver showed his dominance in qualifying, securing pole position for the opening race with an impressive lap time. This set the stage for what would become a dominant weekend for Verstappen, as he maintained his position at the front of the pack heading into turn one of the opening lap.
A Dominant Performance
After securing pole position, Verstappen continued to impress on race day. He quickly created a gap between himself and the rest of the field, leaving them struggling to keep up. His performance was so dominant that even his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase (known as GP) was unhappy. However, it wasn't because of any mistakes on Verstappen's part, but because he was being too good.
Post-Race Interview
Following his victory, Verstappen spoke about his comfortable race and how he didn't need to push too hard to secure the win. However, being the competitive driver that he is, Verstappen still wanted to push. This caused Lambiase to become frustrated and urge Verstappen not to take any unnecessary risks.
Verstappen shared:
"After the first stint, I immediately had a large gap, and after that, we didn't need to push anymore. Every time I wanted to push, GP, my engineer, got mad. That, of course, says enough about today."
Verstappen's impressive performance in Bahrain sets the tone for what is sure to be an exciting and competitive season.
