Small patches of rain began to fall lightly within the first ten minutes of the second free practice session, however, it held off from a heavy downpour. FP2 ran at a similar time of day to the Qualifying session tomorrow, giving the teams and drivers a good representation of the track conditions. However, the race itself will be a few hours earlier in the day, a similar sort of time to FP1.

Towards the end of the session the majority of drivers were on the soft tyre compounds with the exception of Lewis Hamilton, Lance Stroll, and Fernando Alonso who were running on the medium tyre compounds.
