Miami F1 News: Sergio Perez Complains About Track After Recent Changes

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has spoken about the poor grip of the Miami International Autodrome after the first two practice sessions yesterday.
Grip seemed to be an issue for many of the drivers yesterday with close calls from Haas' Kevin Magnussen and Williams driver Alex Albon during FP2 and then a red flag put on the session when Charles Leclerc collided with the race wall.
The track has been completely resurfaced ahead of the race this weekend so it could be that the track needs time for the rubber to transfer. Hopefully, it won't continue to be an issue for the drivers.
Speaking to the media after the two practice sessions, the Mexican driver explained, as quoted by Motorsportweek.com:
“The conditions out there are very low, the grip especially in FP1 it felt like inter conditions pretty much, we were measuring wet conditions to inter conditions.
“We’ve been trying a few [things] with the mechanical balance, and yeah, I think we learned quite a bit, and in the long run I don’t think we managed to get a read because of the very few laps that we ended up doing out there. But generally, I think we got a good baseline.
Perez, who is in the championship fight with his Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, continued to reflect on his Friday ahead of qualifying today and the race tomorrow. He added:
“I haven’t had the greatest of Fridays but my [FP2] lap was also pretty bad. I locked up on the final corner, so there is quite a bit to come.
“I think together, with my driving, I am not driving really well today so I think that, if I’m able to improve my driving and get myself a bit more comfortable, it should be alright.”
