After struggling throughout the whole of the weekend so far, bar maybe a red herring FP1, Lewis Hamilton is out in Q2 leaving the British driver in P13 on the grid.

Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle admits he "had a difficult start to the lap", which cost him a chance at the top 10 after putting in two yellow sectors.

"Got out there way too late, guys," Hamilton radioed through to his engineer, obviously unhappy with his team's timing. In fact, it's so bad, this is his worst ever qualifying on the soil of the United States.

His teammate George Russell finished at the very bottom of the top 10, just about pushing his way into Q3.

Lewis will obviously be very unhappy with this result, with him describing the feeling behind his lack of pace as a "kick in the guts" earlier this race week.

With the Miami track evolving so quickly and plenty of traffic to push through, the timing of flying laps is incredibly important. Unfortunately for Lewis, his team got this one wrong, and it's cost him. With overtaking likely to be once again difficult this weekend, this could be a very difficult race weekend for Mercedes fans.
