Miami Grand Prix Could Be Cancelled If It Rains As New Details Emerge

Fans have been excited about the Miami Grand Prix since the first race in Florida last year. And with a red-flagged qualifying as Charles Leclerc span on Turn 6-7 hitting the wall and damaging his car, the starting grid looks like this Sunday could be a real event of interest with Red Bull's Sergio Perez on the front row alongside Fernando Alonso.
The second row consists of Carlos Sainz in P3, and a surprised Kevin Magnussen in P4 for Haas.
The track was rubbering in nicely yesterday after the three Practice Sessions and Qualifying, but rain overnight has washed away all the rubber that was put down, leaving the track low on grip once again, adding to the potential interest of the Grand Prix.
But Adam Cooper, a trusted source of information on the ground alongside us at Sports Illustrated, has posted to Twitter that fans may want the grey clouds currently looming over the track to disappear.
"Worth noting that in the USA major events often have to stop if there is a threat of lightning," he writes. "F1 Teams have been told that if there's a red flag they should pull their cars into the garages instead of waiting in the pitlane for a resumption. A very different procedure..."
This will come as a big shock to those who have paid over the odds for tickets. But currently, the weather forecast is looking like it won't be a problem.

At the time of writing, BBC.com is showing a 12% coverage of rain in Miami at the time of the race.
Sat in the media centre of the track, we'll be crossing our fingers, but the clouds are certainly looking grey right now.
