The six individuals who participated in the invasion of the Silverstone track during last year's British Grand Prix's opening lap have been convicted following a two-week trial.

The Just Stop Oil environmental campaign group's five members sat on the track during the beginning race, posing a considerable danger to Formula One drivers and marshals who had to remove them from the circuit.

Emily Brocklebank, Louis McKechnie, Bethany Mogie, Alasdair Gibson, and Joshua Smith all stormed the track, while David Baldwin was discovered in a nearby parking area with a Just Stop Oil banner, cable ties, and glue.

Due to a horrific crash that saw Zhou Guanyu's Alfa Romeo flipped and smashed against the barriers, the drivers were not racing at full speed when they encountered the protestors. Fortunately, the Chinese driver was unharmed, and marshals had time to remove the protestors from the track.

All six protestors denied the charges of causing a public disturbance and rejected the prosecution's claims that they posed a threat to themselves, the F1 drivers, and the marshals present at the event.

The sentencing for the convicted protestors is scheduled for March 31.
