Sergio Perez Explains Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Win Was "Tougher Than Expected"

Sergio Perez won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix from pole position and has reflected on the moment saying that it was tougher than he expected with the safety car.

The Mexican driver explained during his post-race interview with David Coulthard:

"It turned out to be tougher than expected.

"That safety car, really did the job in the first stint but the safety car again tried to take the victory out of us. Again in Jeddah, but not this time.

"I was missed the victory last year, so finally I got it.

"And the team did a fantastic job. I mean, the job they've done, they've worked so hard during the weekend, we have a lot of mechanical issues and these guys have been on top of that.

"So I'm really happy for them. We will keep pushing harder, we were the fastest car out there today so I'm very pleased with that.

"I think there is some work to do [with the race start]. We've changed a bit the procedure from our side. So I think we need to do some work to get better starting in the future.

Perez was followed by Max Verstappen to have another 1-2 Red Bull finish with Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso getting his second podium of the year in third place.
