Spanish Grand Prix Results: Max Verstappen Tops Timesheets During FP1

Max Verstappen has topped the timesheets during Free Practice One of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.

Following the Dutch driver was his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon who put in the second and third fastest times, respectively.

Many teams were testing out various upgrades, including Ferrari who had Carlos Sainz's SF-23 with the new sidepod design and Charles Leclerc with the old design in order to directly compare. Mercedes were also hoping to gather more data for the upgrades that they brought to the Monaco Grand Prix last weekend.

Red Bull continued to look dominant putting in impressive times throughout the session. Max Verstappen is going into the weekend hoping to extend his lead in the championship.

Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz are enjoying their home race, with the former hoping to get his 33rd race win under his belt.
