F1 Rumour: Daniel Ricciardo To Secure Seat In AlphaTauri For 2024

Reports have begun to emerge of eight-time grand prix winner Daniel Ricciardo making a return to a permanent F1 seat with AlphaTauri.
McLaren parted ways with Ricciardo at the end of the 2022 season and as time went on the driver found it difficult to secure another seat for the 2023 season. Red Bull later confirmed that they had signed him as their third driver. So far this season, we have seen Ricciardo take part in a lot of the Austrian teams PR duties, and he has explained that he has been doing a lot in the simulator.
The Australian driver is set to perform some Pirelli tests after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone so has made his way to Faenza to have a seat fitting for that. However, this has led many to believe that he is combining the trip with discussions of his F1 return with AlphaTauri.
This comes after mounting rumours of Ricciardo taking Nyck de Vries' place on Red Bull's sister team as he has failed to get his season off as expected. The Dutch driver is yet to score a point and is currently sitting in twentieth in the drivers' standings.
According to RMCMotori.com, another disappointment for the AlphaTauri team is the lack of Dutch sponsors that de Vries brought with him.
Nothing has been confirmed of Ricciardo's return at the moment. He has recently explained in an interview that he would only be interested in coming back to a full-time seat if it is with a competitive team. The Italian squad is not performing to the high expectations set, so it will be interesting to see if Ricciardo deems this a competitive seat.
The difficulty for Ricciardo is that there are not going to be many seats in the top teams available at the end of this year with the majority of the drivers still in contract.
