AVCA Rankings: Florida, TCU Rise, Creighton Falls as One Team Gets Votes for First Time Since 2010

The newest AVCA Poll shows a few teams flip-flopping spots, while one program received votes for the first time since 2010.

Well, this past week of college volleyball saw no shortage of entertainment. 

The sport made history when 43,067 fans packed Wrigley Field in Chicago before the event was prematurely cancelled due to moisture from humidity making the court conditions unplayable. 

To add to the drama, the newest AVCA Poll shows a few teams flip-flopping spots, while one program received votes for the first time since 2010. 

Here’s a look at the Top 25 teams, plus the programs and players that made the most noise during one hectic week.

Nebraska Cornhuskers 

Despite not being able to finish the match against Missouri due to conditions in Chicago on Sunday evening, the Huskers swept DePaul to improve to a 4-0 record, hitting a season-high pace of .434, to keep the No.1 spot. 

Harper Murray led the team with 11 kills, six digs, two blocks, and aces, while Teraya Sigler put up eight kills on 10 attempts and added two blocks. 

Florida Gators 

The Gators went down to Texas and came back moving significantly up the AVCA poll. Saturday’s victory over Baylor marked the program’s first sweep over a top-25 team since 2023.

The Gators kept that momentum and went on to sweep North Texas on Sunday afternoon. 

Against the Mean Green, Florida held its opponent to under .100 hitting for the third time this season, limiting North Texas to .038 hitting with the help of 12 total team blocks. Alec Rothe led with five blocks, while Jordyn Byrd and Aniya Madkin added four each. 

TCU Horned Frogs 

After coming off tough losses to Texas and Louisville to start the season, TCU bounced back to sweep Purdue on the road. It marked the team’s second ranked win in five days after taking down SMU in five sets. 

Becca Kelley led the team with 18 kills against the Boilermakers, while Evan Hendrix put up 11 kills and 10 digs for her second double-double this season. Reese Robbins was a standout as well with seven kills and hit .455. 

Creighton Bluejays 

Despite going 2-1 for the second straight week and defeating Arizona and Pepperdine, the Bluejays lost to Tulsa in a five-set battle that caused them to drop five spots in the poll. 

Creighton was once again awarded in the Big EAST as Trinity Shadd-Ceres was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Katie Dalton was named BIG EAST Setter of the Week. 

Tulsa Golden Hurricane 

Tulsa, now 6-0 on the season with a top-10 win over Creighton, has received votes in the AVCA Poll for the first time since 2010. 

Brittany Bacorn notched her third straight double-double with 29 assists and 10 digs, Emma Blaine led the team with 12 kills, and Jill Hanson put up nine kills and seven blocks against the Bluejays.
